Digital Marketing & Web Development Pricing in Australia (2026): What Everything Actually Costs
Ask five different agencies what SEO costs and you’ll get five different answers, most of them starting with “it depends” and ending with a request to book a call before any number gets mentioned. That’s not always a dodge — scope genuinely varies — but it’s also a big part of why so many Australian business owners go into their first marketing or web project with no real anchor for what a fair price even looks like. They either overpay because they had nothing to compare against, or they choose the cheapest quote in the room and get a service that was never going to deliver what they needed.
This guide is our attempt at fixing that, at least for our own corner of the industry. Every figure below for Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO, AI SEO, website builds and Shopify development is a real, current price from our own pricing page — not a “starting from” figure designed to get you on a call before the real number appears. Automation and custom software development don’t get a specific number here, and we explain exactly why further down, because pretending they fit a fixed package would be more misleading than being upfront about the fact that they don’t.
We’ve also included general Australian market context alongside our own numbers, so you can see where a given service typically sits industry-wide, not just what we happen to charge. Where we’re citing a broader industry range rather than our own confirmed pricing, we’ve said so directly.
Why Pricing Transparency Is Rarer Than It Should Be
Part of the reason agency pricing stays vague is structural. A published price list makes it harder to charge different clients different amounts for similar work, and it gives competitors a benchmark to undercut. There’s also a genuine argument that some projects are too variable to price without a conversation — a custom software build is a real example of that, and we’ve kept that one honest rather than forcing a fake number onto it.
But for services that genuinely do fit a repeatable scope — a standard SEO retainer, a Google Ads management package, a WordPress website build — there’s less excuse. The scope can be defined, the work can be scaled into tiers, and a real number can be published. We do that for six of our eight services, and we think more of the industry should.
SEO Pricing in Australia
SEO is sold almost universally as a monthly retainer rather than a one-off project, because rankings build over months, not days, and the work — content, technical fixes, link building, reporting — is genuinely ongoing. Our own SEO pricing runs from $550 to $950 per month across three tiers, scaled by how many keywords and pages are being optimised, with no lock-in contract on any of them.
For broader Australian market context: SEO retainers industry-wide commonly range from around $1,500 to $5,000 a month for small-to-medium businesses running a focused campaign, climbing well beyond that for competitive metro categories or enterprise-scale sites with large product catalogues. Where a business sits in that range usually comes down to competitiveness of the target keywords, the size of the site, and how aggressive the content and link-building schedule needs to be.
AI SEO Pricing in Australia
AI SEO — optimising for AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and other AI-driven answer engines, alongside traditional Google rankings — is new enough that most Australian agencies don’t have a published price for it at all yet, let alone a properly reasoned one. Our AI SEO pricing runs from $800 to $1,200 per month, priced slightly above standard SEO because the work includes content structuring and monitoring specific to AI citation behaviour, on top of the traditional SEO foundation it still needs.
This is genuinely one of the least crowded pricing categories in Australian digital marketing right now — most competitors are either bundling it vaguely into “SEO” without pricing the AI-specific work separately, or not offering it as a distinct service at all.
Google Ads Management Pricing in Australia
Google Ads pricing has two separate components that get conflated constantly: the management fee an agency charges, and the ad spend itself, which goes directly to Google. Our Google Ads pricing covers management only — $550 to $950 per month plus a $300 to $500 one-off setup fee, scaled by campaign complexity, with ad spend budgeted separately based on your market and goals.
Industry-wide, Google Ads management fees for small-to-medium accounts commonly sit in a similar band, though some agencies charge a percentage of ad spend instead of a flat monthly fee — typically somewhere between 10% and 20%. A flat fee tends to be more predictable for smaller accounts; a percentage-based fee can make more sense once ad spend is genuinely large, since the work scales with the account.
Meta Ads Management Pricing in Australia
Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) pricing follows a similar shape to Google Ads. Our Meta Ads pricing runs $650 to $1,050 per month plus a $300 to $500 setup fee, priced slightly above Google Ads because Meta campaigns typically need more creative testing and audience refinement to perform — interruption-based advertising takes more iteration than capturing an existing search.
As with Google Ads, ad spend is separate from the management fee, and it’s worth budgeting both honestly — a management fee with too little ad spend behind it won’t have enough data to optimise against, regardless of how good the management is.
Website Development Pricing in Australia
Unlike the monthly retainers above, website builds are typically a one-time cost. Our website development pricing runs from $1,500 to $3,500, scaled by page count, custom functionality and design complexity, with full ownership handed over — no ongoing licence fee back to us.
Australian website pricing varies enormously depending on whether you’re comparing a template-based build, a custom WordPress site, or a fully bespoke design-and-development project. A simple brochure site can come in under our range; a large multi-location or heavily customised build can run well into five figures elsewhere. The honest question to ask any quote is what’s actually custom versus templated, since that’s the single biggest driver of both cost and quality.
Shopify Development Pricing in Australia
Ecommerce builds cost more than a standard website because there’s more underlying complexity — product catalogues, payment integration, inventory logic, checkout customisation. Our Shopify pricing runs from $3,000 to $6,000 as a one-time build cost, scaled by catalogue size and how much custom app or checkout work is involved.
For context, Shopify Plus builds — needed once a store hits real volume, wholesale ordering, or multi-currency requirements — typically cost meaningfully more again, since Plus unlocks functionality (custom checkout extensions, multi-store management) that standard Shopify doesn’t support without workarounds. If you’re not sure whether you need Plus yet, that’s worth asking directly rather than assuming.
Why Automation and Custom Software Don’t Have a Price List
This is the section where we could have invented a “from $X” figure to make this guide look complete. We haven’t, and here’s the actual reasoning rather than a vague excuse.
A fixed-tier pricing model works when the scope of work is genuinely repeatable — three SEO packages can differ mainly by keyword and page count, because the underlying work is the same shape at every tier. Automation and custom software don’t behave that way. A single two-tool automation connecting a form to a CRM is a fundamentally different project to a multi-system workflow with custom AI logic and audit-trail requirements — not just a bigger version of the same job, but genuinely different work. Forcing both into a three-tier price list would either overcharge the simple project to cover the complex one, or underscope the complex one to keep the simple one looking cheap.
Instead, both are quoted individually after a proper scoping conversation. Our automation pricing and web app development pricing pages set out exactly what drives the cost for each — number of systems connected, workflow or permission complexity, integration requirements, compliance needs — without pretending a single number could honestly cover the range of projects either category includes.
How to Actually Budget for Digital Marketing and Web Development
The most common mistake we see isn’t picking the wrong service — it’s setting a budget based on what feels comfortable to spend rather than what’s competitive for the outcome you want. Google Ads and Meta Ads run on an auction; if a competitor is spending three times your budget on the same keywords or audience, your ads show less often regardless of how well they’re written. SEO doesn’t run on an auction, but it’s genuinely labour-intensive, and a thinner budget shows up as slower results, not cheaper results at the same speed.
A more useful starting point than “what can we afford this month” is working backward from what a new customer is actually worth to your business, including repeat purchases, and building a budget that can realistically compete for that customer — rather than hoping a modest budget somehow produces results that usually require a larger one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these prices actually final, or is there a catch?
For the six services with published pricing, yes — what’s listed on each pricing page is what you’ll be quoted for that scope of work, excluding GST. If a project needs something beyond a standard package, that gets flagged before any work starts, not after.
Why do agency prices vary so much across Australia?
Mainly scope and location cost base. A Sydney-based agency with higher overheads may price differently to a fully remote team, and “SEO” or “Google Ads management” can mean very different amounts of actual work depending on how thoroughly an agency scopes and executes it. Comparing inclusions, not just headline price, matters more than most people assume when comparing quotes.
Is ad spend included in Google Ads or Meta Ads pricing?
No, and this trips a lot of first-time advertisers up. The management fee covers strategy, setup and ongoing optimisation; ad spend is paid directly to Google or Meta on top of that, and needs to be budgeted separately and realistically for a campaign to have enough data to optimise against.
Why don’t automation and custom software have fixed prices?
Because the work genuinely varies too much to fit a repeatable tier structure. A simple two-tool automation and a multi-system workflow with custom AI aren’t different sizes of the same job — they’re different jobs, and pricing them identically would misrepresent one or the other. Both get scoped individually and quoted as one fixed number before work starts.
Can I combine services, like a new website and SEO together?
Yes, and it’s common — many clients start with a website or Shopify build, then add SEO or Google Ads once it’s live. A combined quote is usually more efficient than piecing packages together separately, since there’s less duplicated setup work.
What if none of the standard packages fit what I need?
Get in touch and we’ll scope a tailored quote. This comes up most often for larger sites, more competitive markets, or projects combining multiple services — the published packages cover the most common project sizes, not every possible one.

Every figure in this guide comes straight from our own pricing page, where you can compare all eight services side by side, see exactly what’s included in each tier, and get a combined quote if your project spans more than one. No forms to fill out just to see a number — the prices are just there.
